On Mac, open the zip file, then drag AudioGameAccess to the Applications folder.
On Windows and Mac, the game updates itself each time it starts; on iPhone and iPad, through the App Store.
What is it?
AudioGameAccess is a platform of games played entirely by ear, made for blind and visually impaired players. Sounds guide you, and your own screen reader speaks to you: NVDA and JAWS on Windows, VoiceOver on Mac, iPhone and iPad.
On a computer, everything is done with the keyboard. On iPhone and iPad, you play with gestures, or by touching the cards, the dice and the buttons on the screen. With headphones, each sound is placed around you, in 3D. For those who see a little, the picture has strong contrast and large text.
The game speaks English, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
The games
You play offline, alone or against bots, or online with other players. Each game has its manual.
Skill games
- Archery: a tournament in Las Vegas, in three levels, where the target moves faster and faster.
- Bowling: place your feet, aim at a board, then throw; the pins fall where they stand.
- Feather Flight: you are a hen escaped from the farmer's truck, run as far as you can.
Card games
- Uno, from 2 to 10 players: play a card of the same colour, number or symbol, and say “Uno!” before your last card.
- Crazy Eights: the 8 plays on anything.
- Golf: the fewest points win.
- President: be the first to get rid of your cards.
- Ninety-nine: the total goes up, never go over 99.
- 1000 Miles: a car race in cards, alone or in teams.
Dice games
- Yahtzee: five dice, three throws a turn, and a sheet of combinations to fill.
Puzzle games
- Sea Battle, for two, on a grid from 8 to 15 squares wide.
- Hangman: find the word, letter by letter.
Simulation games
- Metropolis: you are the mayor, build your city square by square.
Casino games
- Blackjack, Texas Hold'em poker and bingo, on Windows and Mac.
Playing with others
The casino is the game's online lounge: there you open a table, invite your friends, or play against bots. You can chat in writing and by voice, send private messages, keep a list of friends and follow the leaderboards. A game can be saved and resumed later with the same players.
Your account
To play online, create a free account: your email, confirmed by a code, a password, and your player name, the one others see. Choose it well: it can never be changed. Your email is only used to confirm your account and to find your password again: the other players never see it.
